Effectiveness & Intervention Program
Overview
The Parent Effectiveness &
Intervention Program helps parents who are having difficulty
managing their children's
behaviors in the home or community. In conjunction with the
Department of Social Services, Northeast Parent & Child Society
provides this service free-of-charge to parents throughout
Columbia County.
Services
* Up to six 12-week program sessions
per year consisting of:
* 12 weeks of in-home training and consultation
* A three-hour class, one night a week, for eight
weeks
* Additional in-home visits if needed
* Individualized behavior plan for each identified child
* Separate, age-appropriate curricula offered to parents of
children up to age 12 and to parents of adolescents
* Curricula targeted to a wide range of parental educational
levels with various family structures, including intact,
blended,
and single
* Improvements measured through pre- and post-tests of parental
assessment of their child’s behavior
* Three months of follow-up
Referrals
The Parent Effectiveness
& Intervention Program accepts referrals from:
* Columbia County Department of Social Services
* Other Columbia County service agencies
We welcome the following program
participants:
* Parents who are willing to consider new solutions to their
child’s problematic
behavior
* Parents who are willing to fully participate in the program
* Parents who want to be the best parents they can be
