SEFCU
Donates $100,000 to Help Northeast Parent & Child Society
February 10; Schenectady, New York – SEFCU has donated $100,000 to Northeast Parent & Child Society’s “We Build Futures” Capital Campaign to construct the SEFCU Job Center on the first floor of Northeast’s Career Development Center at 530 Franklin Street in Schenectady. Building a new Career Development Center will allow Northeast to increase the number of Schenectady County youth receiving agency career services from 100 to 250 per year. Thirty-two staff will assure that at least 150 youth per year find and maintain well-paying jobs. At the SEFCU Job Center, youth will participate in a minimum of 200 annual training classes, including SEFCU’s Financial Literacy curriculum. Construction of Northeast’s Career Development Center will begin later this year and be completed by 2010. In December 2008, SEFCU donated $2,000 to Northeast to fund holiday needs. Northeast was one of several nonprofit organizations at the September 2008 SEFCU Community Volunteer Expo to receive a $2,500 donation from the event raffle. SEFCU also provided Northeast a $2,500 sponsorship for an inaugural golf tournament in June 2008. “SEFCU is committed to providing financial literacy education to the communities we serve and see the partnership with Northeast Parent & Child Society as a win-win,” said Michael J. Castellana, SEFCU President and CEO. “Individuals visiting the SEFCU Job Center will get the information and skills they need to be successful in the workforce.” The Career Development Center is part of Northeast’s $4 million “We Build Futures” Capital Campaign. To date, Northeast has moved its agency headquarters and administrative staff to the third floor of 530 Franklin Street in Schenectady, and has consolidated a variety of critical programs on the second floor, including outpatient mental health, family foster care, and sexual abuse treatment. Northeast has raised more than half the funds for this campaign, which is scheduled to conclude in June 2011. ### About Northeast Parent and Child Society: Northeast Parent & Child Society provides a full array of residential, special education, family foster care, children’s mental health, family preservation, and career development programs.
